Tolani Scarves

Around the World (in a Tolani Scarf)

Few wardrobe accessories are as synonymous with glamour as is the scarf. The Tolani collection of infinity scarves, wraps and capes proves this brand understands the heavy responsibility granted to this modest fabric. Scarves are equal parts workhorse and indulgence. Tolani scarves are elegant showpieces stitched together with a lot of love and top-drawer fabrics such as cotton, linen, silk, wool and cashmere. Following careful construction, Tolani craftsmen and women up the ante with amazingly bright hues (hand-dyed) and prints with names like “digital magenta” and “kaleidoscope blue”. Paris Hilton was recently spotted seaside with the gorgeous, 58” Tolani Navajo Square Scarf in orange tied around her waist over a black, halter-style one-piece. The scarf was half cashmere, half silk.

Not that anyone needs a reminder, but the versatility of a standout scarf is practically limitless. We love how one scarf can be the poppy chameleon of an otherwise drab ensemble (I’m looking at you, Botanic Red Scarf with your dancing vines and delicate fringe). First, you have the obvious front and center, draped ‘round the neck grab-and-go coverage. And with this, of course, one now has access to a gazillion new ways to make it look perfectly unkempt/Euro/Western … (just Google it). There’s nothing like throwing on great neutrals (leather slingback sandals, a skinny jean, a dolman tee) and finishing it all off with a fave scarf and some Druze earrings. So easy but so elegant.

Let’s talk about the other ways in which this accessory pulls its (feathery) weight. I personally can’t get enough of grabbing a favorite, large lightweight sarong with its deep red, Indian-inspired print every time I hop on a plane. This old faithful takes up so little space in my carryon; it pulls double duty as a swim cover-up and a compact-cozy travel blanket for the bleary eyed return flight.

When you’re feeling rebellious, with a little creativity and the right Windsor knot, a beloved scarf easily becomes your own, one-of-a-kind summer top—ideal for kicking back with flip-flops and flare leg jeans.

And of course, smaller scarves make luscious adornments for the handbag.

Now. If only we could all bring back the 1940s/1950s starlet treatment: a bright scarf wrapped chicly around the hair and off-set with the perfect shades—Grace Kelly style. It’s almost, almost too much. But I think it is not.

For those looking for a little something-something to spice up life, Tolani scarveshave that effortless, earthy, globetrotter vibe. Try one on for an afternoon of island hopping or couch surfing.
