Metro Minimalist Masters

SEN   It takes a sophisticated eye to get minimalist just right … to assemble the perfect neutral palette that cozily skates from office to beach to Sunday brunch. There’s something magic—and all too often elusive—about the perfect plain white tee that fits right and feels right. From what we’ve seen, these guys have it figured out.

The name ‘Sen’ was reportedly inspired by owner Elan Savier’s daughter Senaya. Although company’s chameleon, urban-chic, aesthetic would be at home in Paris or New York, the company is Miami-based. Its minimalist-modern concept was hatched when stylist John Shoemann took the leap to design. Enamored with high quality and timeless pieces at an affordable price, Shoemann has been taking care to create wearable essentials for every woman since February 2012. Make no mistake he caters to a confident, classic woman—wherever she may be. Soon after its inception, the brand caught on in top boutiques in the U.S. and abroad.

What makes these guys stand out? To start, quality: every garment is cut and sewn locally with 100 percent domestic materials. Also of note is an undeniable sense of good editing. The beautiful collections are typically neutrals with just a splash of color—aqua and coral were go-to hues in the past. Throw in a bold stripe (because why wouldn’t you?) and your closet is refreshed and good to go. Next, the clothes do seem very wearable. These are pieces that can be integrated into a wardrobe and work gorgeously with items already in the daily rotation. They are modern without being trendy, classy without being ostentatious. And let’s not forget clothes should feel good, too. Yet another thing that stands out in this line is proportion. Shirts are an easy, flattering length. That is, a little longer for tucking or layering … maybe hi-lo … and look super comfortable.

Sen’s Spring 2015 line oozes drapey-casual with a hint of a Dolman sleeve here or cut-out there. The shirts are an ideal compliment to a white skinny jean, black leggings or your beloved cutoffs. The dresses are breezy with an air of sophistication. And rumor has it handbags and shoes are coming down the line. As one heads into the sultry casual days of summer, the black JOEY dress would be an amazing look paired with a flat gladiator sandal and raw mineral pendant for a little ‘dressing up’. We are excited to see what’s next from this conscientious and talented team.
