Rails Clothing

Rails Hunter Button Down Shirt

RAILS CLOTHING   It started with a hat. Meet the collection that went from carrying one single item to being featured on the pages of Elle Belgium, Vanity Fair Italy, Vogue UK, Self, US Weekly, Instyle, etc., etc. See for yourself ‘what’s the big deal’ with the everyday threads that Giselle has chosen to wear whilst knocking about with her little man.

Rails Clothing was founded in 2008 by Los Angeles native Jeff Abrams. And there’s definitely a sense of “SoCal cool” with this line of clothes with its distinctive take on R&R (relaxed and refined). Rails is dedicated first to the quality of construction—its garments pull from fine materials and are tailored for a great fit. Next up is the focus on fun: button-downs that serve as a blank canvas for a pile of statement necklaces or slung lazily over a bikini to ward off that slight but irritating breeze off the back porch. It’s grab-and-go style for those who prefer not to over-think it.

Each piece is easily very West Coast with splashes of influences from other cultures and times—maybe a geometric Mayan print here or a prim Parisian pattern there—but overall what you get is classic heritage wear to stroll the beach or grab a stolen nap in a shady hammock.

The Rails button down is Americana at its finest and most fashionable … plaid for the whole fam! Think: a massive collection of tops for mom, dad and kid that would be 100 percent at home at your Don and Betty Draper themed picnic (with the family ‘62 Cadillac Coup de Ville parked close behind, jam packed with egg salad sandwiches and potato chips, natch) OR a Grislwold-esque car trip across the states in the woody circa 1987. Either way, men will love the classic and well-tailored shirts, like the white/wine colored Dillon or the woodsy Lennox. Women look chic and cozy in the cap sleeved Britt, or the summery Juliette tank that makes one want to go berry-picking. And they didn’t forget the little ones; the adorably titled “Little Rails” caters to up-in-coming tastemakers and trailblazers.

Rails also does a fine job with incorporating festive stars, stripes and fades (we spotted some noteworthy florals in there, too) and takes summertime to the next level with shorts, overalls and sundresses. Moral of the story: if you’re headed for an epic road trip (or an epic afternoon on the roof), don’t forget about your faithful plaid.
