Blue Life Clothing

Blue Life Open Shoulder Top In Indigo Sand

Have Some Fun … It’s OK

Just so we all agree, clothes are much more than a socially accepted way to cover oneself and ward off a draft. They can be instruments that speak to your preferred way of living! I love dressing to express myself; how I’m feeling or what I’m hoping to accomplish for the day. I might dress based on some old movie I saw a couple nights ago: I Love You, Alice B. Toklas! or Annie Hall or Red-Headed Woman. Or, I may take a cue from the Marie Antoinette bio I couldn’t put down and indulge a yen for Versailles-inspired pastels, glittering gold jewelry, and a ‘lil lace for a few weeks straight. With all the diversity it has to offer, fashion should first and foremost be fun. Sometimes just mentally choosing my outfit in the morning (as I lie comatose under the covers)—strategizing what to pair with what and taking into account the weather, the itinerary, my mood—can give me that extra nudge to hop out of bed a little sooner … and hit the ground runner a little bit faster.

Blue Life Clothing is one of those brands that strikes a creative nerve. Its line of dreamy shirts, pants, dresses, etc. etc. get my editorial juices flowing. It’s exciting when you find that one shirt or dress that is just right … so you … that you honestly feel you couldn’t have designed it better yourself! Celebs like Courtney Kardashian, Ashley Tisdale and Vanessa Hudgens seem to agree, as all have been snapped recently bashing around in Blue Life.

I admire designers Ling Su Chinn and Jen Rossi’s great use of classic colors like indigos and corals—and subtle tie-dye prints—in a mature and very playful way. The Wild and Free Printed Romper in a fun berry/white pattern could work with lots of body types (which is more than you can say for a lot of rompers). Blue Life Tops have great structure and are just fun. Blue Life Dresses would make for an amazing collection that you’d probably want to display out in the open. Even the swimsuits are just what the doctor ordered: the Eclipse One Piece with its deep(ish) V-neck, lacy appliqué, and dark, dusty blue hue is just about the cutest one-piece you’ve ever seen.

So I mentioned tie-dye before. When done right…tie-dye is just the best. I can’t get enough of how these designers absolutely nail the boho look at every turn. I can see myself nestling in amongst my (imaginary) fiddle leaf fig tree and other flora with a book, a mud cloth pillow and a couple of Persian rugs. In this cozy picture I’d be wearing the Blue Life Open Shoulder Top in Indigo Sand paired with some high waist shorts…legs propped up on the table and wearing the most giant sunnies I own.

If I could, I would probably buy all the tie-dye! …And then I would go back and buy some other things, too. If only.
